Dr. Gentile is the interim Chief Medical Information Officer at the University of Vermont Medical Center. In that role, he leads EHR clinical and quality optimization and clinical decision support. Dr. Gentile did his undergraduate training at Duke University and received his MD from the Medical College of Wisconsin. Following residency training at the University of Rochester, he joined the faculty at Vanderbilt University in Emergency Medicine. In 1991, he was awarded a Hartford Foundation Fellowship to study health policy, and received a master’s degree in business administration from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. After business school, Dr. Gentile was a senior executive with the Decision Support Group, and in 1996, he, along with several partners, founded The Crucible Group, a venture capital group focused on healthcare. After moving to Burlington, Vermont, Dr. Gentile joined Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, where he was the Chief Medical Officer leading clinical product strategy. Dr. Gentile continues to practice Emergency Medicine at the UVM Medical Center.
